Ever since I was born, I have been sharing rooms with my family members. I only recently had a room to myself; I guess that was one of the good things to come out of this pandemic.

My parents deemed it necessary to have my own due to classes transitioning to online means, which meant that virtual meetings would be held daily.

Aside from the reason above, I believe that having my room has more benefits than just that.

And here I show the benefits of having your room.

Let’s get into it.

  1. You’ll have a safe place.

Crying or getting angry while someone is around is not the best way to vent your feelings out, that’s for sure.

In the past, whenever I would get hurt and had to cry, I’d rush to the bathroom to weep, and let me tell you, it was not comfortable.

Expressing your feelings is something that most people would want to hide, and that’s perfectly fine.

Not everybody wants others to know what their feeling.

Getting your room means that you express your feelings without anyone knowing about them.

2. It gives you freedom.

Having your room also means that you have the freedom to decorate your room however you want it to be, to arrange it however you like, what color, and everything else.

I would look at walls hung up with posters, a clock, and pictures in the past and I would always get annoyed looking at it because of how dirty it seems.

But now, being the minimalist that I am, I could design it however I want it to be, with no posters, pictures, or clocks.

3. You can do all the embarrassing stuff you always wanted to do.

As an introvert, having my room was one of the best things ever to happen.

We introverts are comfortable with ourselves, we, or in this case, I, would not say I like it when people know about what I’m doing.

But now, I could do everything I want. I could dance, sing, draw, work out, and write articles without anybody knowing about it.

4. It teaches you about responsibility.

Having your room also means that everything that happens inside there is yours to handle, such as sweeping, mopping, wiping the windows, changing the sheets, and the occasional killing of bugs.

5. It gives you a quiet place.

Probably the best thing you could have is a quiet place. A place to relax, to study in peace, and to watch movies in a quiet area. It’s kind of like having your mini-library without the mean librarian.

Having your room might seem kind of a thing that everybody has, but not everyone has it.

Don’t take your safe place for granted just because you have it.

Be thankful that you have it because someone out there would do anything to have one.

To anyone looking for signs to ask your parents to have your room, this is it. Present them with what I listed here, and I hope it works.

Which benefit do you think is the best out of the five?
